Lee Garrett is a country singer/ songwriter born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, right on the Georgia/ Florida line. He spent his summers and winters up in West Tennessee where he picked up his first guitar. Lee was always around music growing up and had a passion for country music. Being born to a barrel racer and a drummer may have been the precursor. His favorite artist growing up was George Strait. Others such as John Anderson, Merle Haggard, Clint black, Tracy Lawrence also influenced him early on with their upbeat barroom honky tonk sound and constant radio play in the 90's. Over the years he messed around with music, playing various instruments and laying them down after a while, but it was always singing and playing the guitar that stuck.
After a three year stint in college Lee began discovering the extent of his love for playing music. He would play at friend's parties as often as he could. During this time he discovered older country acts such as Hank Sr., Vern Gosdin, and Ernest Tubb and began to study the craft of songwriting. Eventually the money ran out and Lee left college to move up to west Tennessee and began playing guitar and singing in a church band. This gig was followed by writing and singing in and around town as much as he could. Winning first place in his first singing contest put on by the local Memphis country radio station, Kix 106 at a bar before a show won him both a pair of front row tickets to George Strait and new drive to make something out of what had before been a hobby.
Over the next year and a half Lee was playing local bars and festivals such as the Delta Fair, Oktoberfest, local parties all while writing to prepare for his first songwriter's demo album. Songwriter's nights were scarce in Memphis when it came to country music so he relied on friends, family, and strangers to help him with the feedback he needed to sharpen the craft. The idea for a demo became an idea for a full studio E.P. album one day when Lee was introduced by his steel guitarist to a producer up in Nashville. He arrived in Nashville with four chosen originals and his voice and from there, the caliber of top tier talent from studio musicians brought them to life.
Things are just now kicking off as Lee is currently performing at local event, parties, and venues. He is now focused on putting together a touring group, and playing bigger shows while he writes material for his first full length album.
